The metaverse, also known as metaspace, refers to an imagined future Web of interconnected virtual realities. It’s called metaverse because it’s like a universe parallel to ours that combines all ‘worlds’ into one. The metaverse could be made up of physical places which are entirely computer-generated or just existing worlds with avatars living alongside human beings.
What would you do in the metaverse?
You could travel easily to see your family or friends wherever they were by putting on a head-mounted display and bodysuit at home and then transporting yourself instantly via teleportation gateways across continents and universes. This has been described as ‘the place where all other worlds meet’.
Using the internet we can communicate with people and exchange information effortlessly. What if we could do that in the metaverse, but instead of just reading about someplace we had to actually get there like it was a real-world? We could buy land and build anything we like on it: cities, towns, castles or private houses.
